heatfully Protect

Boiler cover from the people who actually turn up. Your annual service is included, you go to the front of the queue when something fails, and the engineer who arrives is one of ours.

Plans from £16.50 a month

Why local cover beats a national plan

The big national schemes work on a call centre and a rota of subcontractors. You explain the problem to somebody reading a script, you get a four-hour window, and the engineer who arrives has never seen your boiler before.

We are a small local company, so your boiler is on our system with its history. If we fitted it, we know exactly what is in there. And when you ring, you speak to somebody in Guildford who can tell you honestly whether we can get to you today.

Being straight about the limits

No cover pays for everything, and any company telling you otherwise is hiding the exclusions in the small print. Ours are simple and we will say them out loud: boilers over fifteen years old cannot always be covered because parts are no longer made; pre-existing faults have to be put right before cover starts; and deliberate damage is not included. Everything else is in the plain-English terms we send you before you sign anything.

Common questions

Is my annual service included?

Yes, on every plan. It is the part that keeps your manufacturer guarantee valid, so it is the part we would never leave out.

Is there an excess?

No. What you pay monthly is what you pay.

Can I cover a boiler you did not install?

Yes, subject to an initial service so we know what condition it is in. If we find a fault at that point we will quote to fix it, and cover starts once it is sorted.

How do I cancel?

Give us a month's notice. No exit fees and nobody will try to talk you out of it for twenty minutes.

Boiler cover: what to look for, and what to avoid

The questions that actually matter

Boiler cover is sold on price per month, which is the least useful way to compare it. These are the questions that determine whether a policy is worth having.

Is the annual service included, or extra? A policy without a service is insurance against a failure it is not helping you prevent. It also leaves your manufacturer guarantee at risk, since almost all of them require documented annual servicing.

What is the excess? A low monthly price with a high excess can cost more over a year than a higher monthly price with none.

Is there a claim limit, or a limit on the number of call-outs? Some policies cap the total value of claims in a year, which is precisely the situation where you needed the cover.

What is excluded? Look specifically for pre-existing faults, sludge and scale damage, boilers over a certain age, parts that are obsolete, and any exclusion for systems that have not been maintained.

Is there an exclusion period? Many policies will not accept a claim in the first two to four weeks. That is reasonable, but you should know about it before your boiler fails in week two.

Who actually attends? With a national provider it is whichever contractor is available. That is the difference between somebody who knows your boiler and somebody meeting it for the first time.

Cover versus a sinking fund

Cover is not always the right answer, and it is worth doing the arithmetic honestly.

If your boiler is new and under a long manufacturer guarantee, most of what cover offers is already provided — provided you service it annually. In that case a service plan alone often makes more sense than full cover.

If your boiler is older, out of guarantee, and a failure would be a genuine problem to fund at short notice, cover buys certainty. That certainty has real value even if, over ten years, you pay slightly more than you claim.

If your boiler is very old and parts are becoming scarce, neither cover nor repair is the good answer. Replacement is, and a policy that keeps a dying boiler limping along is delaying a decision rather than solving it.

Why the local version differs

With a national provider you ring a call centre, explain the fault to somebody reading a script, and receive a four-hour window. The engineer who arrives has never seen your boiler and will not be the one who returns.

With us, your boiler is on our system with its history. If we installed it we know precisely what is in there, what was replaced and when. When you ring you speak to somebody local who can tell you honestly whether we can reach you today, rather than booking you a slot to keep you quiet.

What keeps a boiler alive

Cover responds to failures. These reduce them.

  • An annual service, recorded, without exception
  • A magnetic filter, cleaned at every service
  • Inhibitor in the system, checked and topped up
  • A scale reducer if you are in a hard water area — most of Surrey is
  • System pressure kept in range, and the cause found if it keeps dropping
  • Condensate pipework insulated or internally routed before winter

Every one of those is cheaper than the failure it prevents.

Questions we get asked

Is boiler cover worth it?

It depends on the boiler. New and under a long guarantee, a service plan usually makes more sense. Older and out of guarantee, cover buys certainty that has real value.

Does cover include the annual service?

Ours does, and you should be wary of any that does not. Without a service you risk the manufacturer guarantee as well.

Will cover fix a fault I already have?

No policy covers a pre-existing fault, and any that claims to is worth reading very carefully. Get the fault repaired first, then take cover.

What is not covered?

Typically pre-existing faults, damage from sludge or scale where the system has not been maintained, obsolete parts, and boilers over a certain age. Always check these before the monthly price.

Can I get cover for a boiler you did not install?

Yes, subject to an initial service and inspection so we know what we are covering.
